Genda Charlie Connor I get a good afternoon everyone thank you very much for joining us for potentially Mister thiago's last ssac meeting at Alliance and my feet I'm excited as we continue to I promote and support our leadership team here I've missed your calls down a message I will be taking on a more active role with ssac moving forward but it really has been an honor serving with you with you all and like with some of our founding parents some of our amazing teachers and leaders and sell just want to say thank you and Welcome to our meeting today it should actually be a pretty short meeting there's only one got a slide deck that I did want to go over with the team I had to get feedback on but yet wanted to move us on to I don't know I don't believe Miss Damaris in the meeting yet but I would love to I said go ahead and we can go in and take roll now now she may be having issues coming in I know she was here earlier but I think we disconnected and he'll come back in we lost during the process McClure cleanest driving so maybe another member can do the Roku 344 and so evil will take his tenants and then there's other people that join in and I know we had some connectivity issues Olivia Zamora not here yet Mary Ann McClurkin I know she might be driving feel free. New directed you're here I'm pregnant thank you excellent driving skills as well Murray for now and I don't believe I've seen her yet so absent for now Veronica Sandoval carbon steel pan not here yesterday Rodriguez Jennifer Lo Sarah O'Connor there you go it is a present to have y'all here with your presence Emily Canela another gift Zakaria right another another amazing gift add Jonathan pianko I am here present and accounted for are you go and let's close it out with one of my founding high school team members Karina Karina guarneros present status emphasis on my on my pronunciation I appreciate it but thank you all for being here and seeing us do we have a quorum in order to do minutes approval I think you're in Canela nose like a Robertson what life is all about it Canela confirmed it but I'll follow and see if I say yes we're good one second so we're 7 you know that's right cuz I'm not counting you because you are are minutes from the previous meeting again that was a long one today is going to be a much shorter meeting let's go read and review and so are panda gaming team is going to go ahead and share that on the screen if you could actually Zoom that into about 200% that be great just to give us yeah I did get laser eye surgery but if I can have it bloomed in a little more I'd appreciate it for sure we are on it it'll be zoomed-in momentarily it's a good eye test but definitely Daddy and if you click that 100% and change the number that would zooming in without having RV that looks great and so I can engage minutes and Tim are going to roll through obviously this was sent before but let's go to review and then we'll have a move a motion to approve the minutes from are May 3rd 2023 meeting and then I just that after scrolling through I wanted to confirm that Marie Finnell is in the meeting as of yet markers present thank you and if we could conditioner to a panelist and let's have the record show that Olivia Zamora rssa Cher has been able to reconnect and its present if we could convert to a panelist thank you cyclecruza review and so could we get a motion to approve the minutes from May 3rd 2023 this is my second alarm 1/4 a motion to approve the minutes from Wednesday May 3rd 2023 motion seconded thank you very much and all in favor of approving our men from May 3rd 2023 hi any opposed the motion carries a discount continue on with the agenda I said there weren't too many major updates that our principles are working and updating their professional development but I didn't want to share again this I'm excited to continue to transition the mr. Charlie mr. call Sarah Carlson will be taking over for Leah spring next year I no longer having the in Residence part of their title and therefore will be taking over as if they see our parents as they see members at this is probably mr. thiago's last one as like a lead of the meeting David I'm looking forward to participating in the future so thank you to our parents I know there was a technical difficulties some exciting things happening today and last Friday like we we I really find Dave & Buster's field trip today we did Discovery Cube we've got senior prom coming up on Friday and today I got to go to Harlem 9 mentorship Alliance mentorship program at Cal State LA today where Alliance alumni are going to serve as mentors to our new at our graduating seniors when they go to college so for all of our staff phenotype and this is one of the major reasons why I love the alliance Network you know once an alliance graduate always an alliance graduate so we stay in contact with our students and we help them through the college going price supporting with Misha chelation graduation and eventually their career aspirations and so I'm really excited about the work they were doing there. So those are awesome activities are happening but most importantly June 6th save the date we've got 8th grade culmination at 2 p.m. at the beautiful psoriasis on and then it's 6 p.m. our high school graduation so there's a lot going on really excited about it cast testing continues to happen right now most of our students have finished but based on the results that we've already started receiving we are hunt to continue to grow continue to get better and sound excited hopefully the data continues to hold up and excited when that data becomes more official so we can share more publicly But continuing to work hard and and support our staff and our students one of the things that and so we do have some middle-school representation with our teachers and then also be great to have our high school representation as well I'm going to be sharing a presentation so if I could get screen sharing access thank you there you go give me a thumbs up if you see the presentation this is the same presentation that calls down is currently doing with our Middle School staff and so I'm also sharing this with our  Stacy we really as a network we really believe that our strong results chemically weather has cast us paying AP testing college acceptance rates, High School graduation rates really in addition to feel like the parent work in the family engagement really is tied to having outstanding staff and so we really want to make sure that our staff members are feeling supported our feelings sustained and success and so in this was really trying to reimagine the alliance educator experience and how do we continue to attract recruit and retain the best talent in Los Angeles at Alliance MIT our Focus this year has been around ABC academic achievement beliefs and behavior and culture of collaboration it's some of the levers that we talked about in the Middle School specifically it's been around volume a practice efficiency of practice quality of practice and then quality of relationship we really believe that practice and strong relationships are keys to economic growth so I'm going to skip a few of these like as we think about building up that the needs of our Scholars of our staff are we really try to make sure we're meeting all of these basic needs cell Wethersfield physiologic safety love and belonging esteem and then eventually really pushing for self-actualization it takes making sure that we have the right Educators in the building so these are some of the groups so at Alliance we've done a lot of surveys reached out to lot of teachers counselor stop one of the things that we talked a lot about is like and what we've been hearing from our colleagues is like our team members asking for schedules that allow for more fishing and protected time for planning and administrative duties we want our teachers and our staff members did not always have to take all of their work home and having feel like extended extended lot of time I'm really trying to build more time in the school day some of our we've heard from our Scholars our families and staff that the needs of our scholar population of increased significantly post-pandemic and we must equip our stay and Leverage The expertise of our Scholars that members team to collaborate and meet those needs and then we just have to reimagine our schedules to allow for increased connection and academic acceleration our Scholars to the last year as we sought nationally we backtrack nearly 20 years of data because of the pandemic and so how do we support our Scholars moving forward while having sustainable schedules and some schedule add a line to my to specifically we've heard that we enjoy having common finding time we've heard that advisory can be an opportunity where we leverage and build relationships doesn't connect with our students we like finishing the day not at crazy lady hours we also established I talked about with these field trips staff want to provide opportunities for students to build call Spirit-filled culture and just have fun and then we've also heard from our staff that we want opportunities for professional development whether it's at our school or outside of our school in in working through this we were working and collaborative groups to really try to build a more holistic experience for a Scholars and family so when I when I when I I think I'm hearing when I think about our our staff at like these are questions to our staff right now and then I'll open up to other questions for what are some challenges that prevent us as Educators from effectively doing our jobs and what are some challenges that you believe that we face that affect your long-term sustainability or your colleagues long-term stability sustainability and educate and so this one it first is to stop a like whether your operations teacher at cetera what are some challenges that we face that that make it tough to do our jobs and if the job super easy and like yeah the easiest thing you've ever done it's okay to know no need to comment and will not just kidding I know it's a tough job and we have a shorted there's a teacher and educator store across our country right there's a nurse and Doctor shortage across our country and so those are some challenges challenges that we face and I'm also to parents like what do you think might be challenging you think about your students or your students teachers what do you think might be challenges that your students or teachers are facing this is personal I can I can share I think on a systemic level our admin is pulled in a million different directions which can make it really difficult to get work from happening on a day-to-day basis and then. Maybe you know a curriculum support or behavioral support things like that and or admin or like superheroes they're always on the Move they're always doing something and so it nice to have consistent rules that don't have to be changed for admin I don't know how much of that cannot easily be changed because it is a bigger issue of like you said there is a shortage there is you know some budgeting that has be accounted for but I think that does play a really really large role in this like idea of feeling a little unsupported yeah so what I heard from that is like you know having administrative Staffing bdl2 focus a little more so they can provide more support to so the teachers oh yeah thank you I was going to say that I think that transitioning from the even though it's been awhile but a lot of these kids came in from the pandemic and transitioning into a more formal setting has been tough that as the rules get more get out back to the way that they were that it's hard sometimes for them to do that flip and so I think that's posted problem both for first most students but that can translate to teachers as well I would also add and save a text especially with like apple watches devices so I guess talking a long-term sustainability of the computer like learning how to adopt new technologies and have been actively yep. So yeah definitely behind the technology distraction just also that tremendous needs that our families and students have the pandemic is obviously so when we thought about working with other School summer part of this we're working it out there old is part of a pilot what is the really think about how do we restructure the master schedule when we thought about restructuring the master schedule these are some of our core tenants or priorities in the scheduling one meet the needs of our Scholars with disability so i e p students and English Learners we want to make sure that we have common planning time for Content areas we want to make sure that there's whole child wellness and safety the students having daily physical education chicken are outdoor activity Outdoors time meals at cetera we want our Scholars to have extracurriculars electives in Richmond and we want to have time for connection with collars leather it's staff-to-student for students and students families and staff at these are some of our core tenants things that we're going to that we want it intentionally build into our schedule as you leave these core tenants what what would you I think it's the most important and and is there anything that's missing from this list as we think about our bell schedule what we want to build into a student's experience of teachers experience and if this town right that's a thumbs-up also isn't it yeah those are things that we really want to make sure we take care of our students that need that extra support and it would have really supporting the social emotional needs the health and wellness of our Scholars just some things that were thinking about as being potentially schedule is like really making sure that we're able to design highly engaging lessons having opportunities for teachers have professional development time and creating more work life balance for students for students and staff Psych is potentially increasing prep for planning time providing more minimum days and half days for us our staff to prep replacing Associates in every clash of the moving towards having like student teacher the associate teacher has our ideas and every class reducing administrative responsibilities by having team members be able to support with that joining or starting an Americorps program to bring more volunteers and bring more leaders and teachers of color into our schools introducing teacher lesson days rolling PD is Annette offering opportunities for teachers in and operations to take planned mental health days have you also want to have deep exploration of content and providing opportunities for internships extracurricular activities so having seizures be time together divining designing PD with in partnership with school staff working with our Special Education team to review and support with the English language development in special education having Scholars be able to give feedback on lessons at adding more content experts in our classes and then also just providing time for extracurricular activities creating sunshine are building our Sunshine committees an opening wellness centers across our schools and then finally really trying to build on our parent engagement 7 for Manning a community schools model having a community space similar what we're doing bringing our parent entrepreneurs who are trying to build small businesses doing more progress checkpoints are building into the throughout the school year building into the time conferencing time with students in potentially doing home visits at creating office hours in providing time for Scholars to meet one-on-one with staff and students and then also providing opportunities early high school early college early into internship experiences as you hear those ideas what what sounds most exciting to you like what are some ideas that you would want us to pursue and then what are some ideas that kind of concern you that you might not want to and that can be students or staff or parents does he think about all those different ideas which one's kind of exciting to you make sense or what would you like us to like oh I'm not a fan of that idea we're not going to be able to do all of these things these are just some things that were considering as we work our schedule Prairie Wind is missing what I just wanted to share to me it was actually very nice it was my experience attending like a 10% event there at Alliance where I went a couple weeks ago to the Paramount breakfast that we had there to the certificates I think it was very nice to see them it was more of a nice to see that the other parents like not just that I see them in the morning at the bus stop but just to connect with them and knowing we're all there for the same purpose as we what we show interest in knowing our child education so that's something I really liked and I would definitely would like to participate in war be it was it was a very nice of it and we all felt welcome there yeah I love it so yeah exactly we want to be able to expand our facilities to have more space and then also operate offering opportunities to teachers and counselors can engage more with our parents directly so thank you anyone else that a thing that was exciting to you or something that gives you pause like you're not a fan of the eye I thought General it sounds like or at least for me I put myself in the future shoes I would love more planning time I would more professional development I would love built in time for office hours that are not going into all of my prep time so those are some things that I would personally be excited about and does things very exciting to everyone else as well so those are just some tea bags we're continuing to work through some schedules any last questions about what I just shared so these are all things that were taking into consideration as we bail. for next year for Volaris specifically as we do this pilot and then eventually if things go well across the complex and then eventually across a lion School all right if no questions I'll go ahead and move it to I believe public comment we will not be voting on that item cuz there's no no schedule anything to devote on but I believe it's public comment and then will close out I believe this act all three are ready to go for our next meeting for elpc any public uncle oh no we did not need a vote on that this is just to be back so I can pass it to miss dimora for the last time I believe of 2020 to 2023 at the called the meeting are to adjourn the meeting no public comments thank you miss tomorrow you're going to make history right now end of the year it's making me sad I was very excited for this year in a safe place I would love for people to turn on their cameras I would love only if you're in a safe place if you give your nut and you can't do it no worries I would love to see people for our last meeting even if it's for a few seconds are you got it yeah and be safe don't don't do it if it's not safe all right it's nice seeing you.
