My name is Mister chai I'm the high school principal I've been with Alliance I've been here for 18 years I've been a founding member of four different Alliance High School's and I'm really proud to have been the Principal of marine High School this will be my second year as a as a principal what I did with the school for the for the past four years so the first graduation first prom we got to all see those happen and you're now becoming traditions and we have quite an amazing school and I'm really excited to share with you the rest of the team I'm going to hold off on the introductions cuz they're all going to be speaking tonight and sharing with you very briefly we have missed seeing this at all mr. Kent that at all and Miss mejor guess we'll all be presenting with are you out and I would have hit it off to our amazing operations team so did you turn off steam which one you want to see them in the office all the time I know a lot of you already know them it's me select the scientist operations manager for a middle school for Spirit she's the one in the high school and myself me still the best time of the day in the Pines Center in society the school business manager that you will find her in the office in the main office as well and then we have our meeting at 5. give me 7 and says she takes care of attendance for high school in Miss Hernandez Maryland child support attendance as well I miss Lopez and miss her camera i t Miss Andover HEI maybe you'll see her outside directing traffic and helping with students and she's not office as well with anything related to what time does you can go fish Middle School look for miss queen Marie if it's related to high school you can look for me in the air mattress and this is amazing amazing operations team we are one other team I really want to highlight is our counseling and mental health Team we do have a school psychologist employed by the staffer for students that might need some additional emotional support as well as our counseling team that does academic and social emotional support we have Miss lad school psychologist and then we have for the high school for counselors supporting kids through college and providing all of the resources that they need to apply to college get financial aid and go through all those processes takes a team into we have grade-level counselors for each for each grade level that following loop with the kids and so for example question worst was a e3 counseling next last year and he's following his kids all the way to Ninth Gate and enjoying the high school team because it is it essential that the counselor and Scholars have know each other have really strong relationships should really see them grow over the four years support that we have Miss Medrano who's our 10th grade Leaf counselor mr. polara who's our 11th grade counselor and Miss corbera who's r r i see your counselor and each of these counselors were with the same grab a Volvo and we'll be continuing you have questions about kids schedules or kids want to make a request if they need social emotional support if you have questions about college these are the primary person who will be supporting your Scholars entire academic career at the high school I really want to stick with that red and like our ultimate aspiration as a line school we Aspire for 75% or more of us colors to graduate from a four-year college or university and we look at this and we don't think about just graduated high school we want to get our kids to and through college while there are some students that may not interested in pursuing other college career as we understand and respect that some students may want to go to the military or have other aspirations and that's perfectly okay but what we want and expect for all of our Scholars when they graduate sorry I missed why is to have the opportunity to go to college so far do you need me to pause or do you want me to keep going she said you're good mr. try and stop me if I need to slow down. Thank you and it in that ultimate aspiration of getting kids to and through college we do have rigorous graduation and academic expectations for students that I briefly wanted to go over students we do expect 230 Rockford it's in to me all the way through G requirements are graduation expectations are above the minimum expectation that LAUSD expects because what we expect is for students that graduate at Alliance to become ready meaning that they can apply to or universities and have opportunities open for any system as opposed to Lowered Expectations which some schools might have where it's just graduation but then they can't be compared for eligible for 4 University graduation involves two things at which is very different from middle school is credit matter students need to earn three 230 credits each class Lee take his work end credits for the most part in over the course of the four years to promote from grade level two grade level there are credit benchmarks that we look at in addition to that there are specific classes that kids need to graduate example students need four years of English at least three years of math and so we we look at at the all of those criteria to make sure kids are eligible when they go to college and we have said some amazing results this year we had student get into Stanford as well as we have students going to UCLA you see I see and so many other amazing universities that we have gotten kids into that that that they're going to be attending in the fall something we do as one of our Traditions as soon submit applications for cfus and you see their name on the way bored and take the picture we have a culture where students celebrate and support each other when they're submitting so the three young young women that are showing the laptop screen their showing their their college applications and submissions in this process happens in the fall store seniors are starting to apply to to schools and start applying in the falls and then in the spring they start hearing back and accepting until it's a really exciting year especially for our seniors and we have a tradition of having a phenomenal graduation at Sea son in the Soraya so here we have a couple students showing off their diplomas all the kids celebrating right before they threw their hats and we have a very high graduation rate and College acceptance rate in a lot of that work is from our amazing teachers are very confident counseling team in our operations team there's a lot of work that goes into supporting scholar price really want to start off with our vision of like where we're going and what we're preparing students for in our next life I'm going to start diving into our instructional program and one of the reasons we are we're so successful is because academically in both English and math we are outperforming neighborhood schools we don't have all the data from this year especially for a lot of neighborhood schools but as you can see the five closest schools in our neighborhood alliance MIT aquamarine High School is outperforming all of them and that same friend is true for math which we are doing significantly better than a lot of our neighborhood schools when you make the choice to send your kid to an alliance school you're making the choice to choose an academically rigorous school that is a lying to college expectations add one of the things that we really are prioritizing especially moving in the last year as we return to site is we started fry or ties in field trips again and getting students experiences expand her Horizons and tree that college-going culture we did field trips to colleges for each grade level and continuing that for this year currently what we have planned and what we're trying to organize is 9th grade will go to UCLA 10th grade will go to CSUN 11th grade we're going to try and give some options of students GPS might affect where they have opportunities are giving students an opportunity Occidental we did you see Santa Barbara and we want to continue that again in 12th grade where students can see capsular vein as well as our community colleges in so we know that we are going to make colored ship Sade accessible for all kids this year we just did these are the schools that were eating for to make sure over the four years as kids are with us they're supposed to water different College in that conversation starts to go to not do you want to go to college but where do you want to go are you go back to are we we are at school that is serving our community we did this event last year we had a community health fair where miss our parent Gage been Specialist Team organised events where we brought different communities vendors and businesses on site with able to bring students families and the community together so we're really thinking about like students just not just play the college but how do they relate to their community in a lot of our students come back and serve our community there are five students that are former light at least five students in her former life students better now employed by MIT that I personally thought and so we do sort students not just graduating high school but going to college and what we really want to lift up and celebrate is one of our students come back and serve their communities that partnership with Community is really important we lead parent workshops on a weekly basis where parents can attend workshops sometimes those are are going to be coffee with the principal where they can meet with mr. Carlson who's in Middle School in school and myself on stock about the school receive different trainings on different types of workshops that that that are organized and so we do make an effort to really have parrots on site on a weekly basis regular basis we have a phenomenal Science Program where in addition to the Bay science classes that students are expected take to graduate in addition to Living Earth or by chemistry physics we offer AP versions for AP Chemistry AP Physics in addition we're bringing on AP Psychology this year we offer AP Computer Science and we also offer Robotics and we're extending it to have like a second semester that for honors Robotics and kids can get a gray boost as well as engineering so we have a really robust Science Program where students can really periods and explore different sciences and what I really appreciate and respect about her science kids program is experienced as kids have there is a lot of Engagement with Labs on hands materiae on hands experiments like in that first picture there are kids dissecting a brain on the right side that they went to a park and they are shooting these built rockets and they're shooting him in the air and so there's a lot of experience to learn that student half with her science probe Lakeside another thing we we do is we do our mock interviews for our seniors so in their government class they dress up and then they get interviewed by staff and so there's a I have experiences that we do as we think about kids careers with us over the four years are we preparing them for college interviews already preparing them for job interviews and we try and give a lot of experiences because we're not just trying to get kids to graduate high school we really are thinking about their careers or what they want to do after high school in what other slide we have here just expanding on a robot text program at our art fair on the last days we have a slide of like our art show that we read annually and then the two pictures of the right in our robotics programs for kids supposing where they're showing off their robotics projects were they thought of a pro project all of their own creative designs physically built a robotic and did the programming to make autonomous machines and so it is pretty phenomenal that students are creating something completely out of scratch and I would have passed it off to are phenomenal dean of culture mr. Kent federal district a row before you start with a sports program can you just give an introduction to yourself and and then when you're ready start sharing about a sports program Target near me buy perfect that's why I miss your company to one bloody nose by students doing with the culture of our students I have pain with Alliance MIT stand 2017 my started out as a PE teacher and then slowly work my way into into the dean role a lot of the teachers will or a lot of the students will get to know me through good and not-so-good experiences but more than anything I am more focus in my priority is to make sure that all students are safe in Ark make sure that they are making right the right choices and I would like to focus on making sure that the student learns very they will make mistakes so I want to make sure that they're learning from mistakes until we're there to help them along the way and yeah so that's me in a nutshell with sports so I am the administrator assigned to I helped mr. Mahi or athletic director help guide the way that are sports and athletic program the way to the direction that we wanted to go to and 1 sec and please let me know if I need to pause or translate as well I know music translating so you're good thank you again Mister Mahi the Rector on the Dina I'm the Man assigned to help him with the athletic program into fourchon bull release a cup what sports are available currently we have a total of 12 Sports seven of them being for girls and then six five of them for boys so then we had boys and girls basketball boys and girls cross country boys and girls soccer boys and girls track and field and boys and girls volleyball the two that are the newest listen to our Athletic program is Cheer which our talented Miss cheese tea helps run that with Miss trials and the new edition this year coming up its flag football for girls so we're very excited about black football it's competitive and we're just excited to keep adding on to our Athletics we have a lot of amazing student-athlete students first athlete a very close second they're very very close a lot if not all of our students are are very engaged in their classroom because they are driven by the sport so we're all excited about what they're doing with her but they're accomplishing we may be a small school but we are on our way to do big things so and it's all thanks to everybody so everybody is collaboration trying what is the next light please so eligibility criteria this is a very basic are there are more more specific items in regards to Google eligibility but for the most part our students we want our student-athletes who are looking to be part of a of a sports team their GPA needs to be a 2.0 or better still a 2.0 or batteries what this is a very bass line that we want our students to be at and we do not want any and peas and any other cord to mister mahi-mahi and the Aventine week we look at breeds of Target at the 5-week report cards and all the grading periods to make sure that they are eligible and not only that but our coaches are also on top of the students to make sure that they have the right grade to make sure that they're eligible Aqua practice and games some of the things that we do not want if we all agree we don't want our student-athletes to fall below a real or 2.0 and also they that if one or more employees than any class a date the student they risk not being eligible for practice or being eligible for four games even coaches athletes admin teachers we all work together try to get the students ready and and we take preventative measures to make sure that they are ready for their for their sport a lot of our athletes play multiple Sports so it's just best for them to be on top of their game it doesn't take a very determined person of very determined students to to do well with sports because they have the added responsibility of doing all the practices as well as being eligible for game time so they have an added responsibility that they put on the Belt next light the next few flies are just some highlights of a few pictures of what our of our star student-athletes with their coaches so here we have our boy soccer program with Mr Barbara mystery latio this was for him this this past season we made it to playoffs and I believe we we made it to the second round so weird we're looking forward to improving on that the next life here we have the girls soccer team are girls soccer team they were our most successful team are they became CIF champions for Alliance MIT they beat out everybody in their division and more most impressive is that we are the first school out of all the alliance school not to mention we're one of the newest if not being usalliance school but we are the first school to have AC is camping camping team ever so it's a it's a quite an accomplishment is history in the making this what it is so we hope to have a couple more of those nextlight girls volleyball team or girls volleyball team we have a 334 Meadow Lea middle schoolers but also high school girls to join our volleyball team we have a pretty successful program with Coach Acuna next slide this is our a cheer team this our cheer team and they is comprised of all grade-level I'm not sure but I believe we are looking as we look for we're looking to do competitive cheering cut you off I can speak to the cheer team hello everyone my name is Sabrina XL I'm one of the assistant principals at Marion High School and I'm also one of the cheer coaches so the tear is a program that we started last year where were really excited have a team that we put together last year we focused on sharing at sports games and rallies this upcoming year we are going to be doing competitive cheer as well so girls who are interested in joining cheer do both cheering at games and rallies as well as competing in Australia competitions baby I knew you were going to do cheering the the competitor to your thoughts next up is our basketball team again our basketball team we have improved every single year from the moment we started I believe we did make playoffs this year as well and again we're looking to improve so if some of your stomach your kids are are you know how basketball players please have him try out so that we can get the best, and in all in all the Sun Valley next light please our cross country team I buy not just mr. Leon but also led by our our executive director mr. Mister tiongco our cross-country team has grown tremendously. We've had quite a few students who were actually speak I think it went to State we had students see how your finalists so I'm we were really excited we have some Runners on our on our tablets and we love to have them I'll come back and again a refit of our soccer team can stressing out for the amount of work that they put in and just the cohesive I mean it was literally a team effort and I've I want to say that that's what one are are are CIF Championship congratulations to the girl and I will pass it over to miss X doll and Miss will orcas with the Venice thank you so much mr. say hello everyone my name is Miss bojorquez and I am director of instruction for this upcoming school year I will also be one of the leadership advisors along with Miss Ethel and pretty much our aim for this year is to be able to create a greater sense of belonging among our Sellers and stuff through memorable experiences so what we pretty much want to do is try to make our our school campus and make our students experience at like that much better when coming it's cool enjoy it so we're going to have we're planning on having a whole bunch of events such as school dances and two of our biggest our homecoming which is actually going to be coming up in September and the biggest one is prom open to 11th and 12th graders so those two are the plans school dances we currently have but we also are planning on having fundraising activities last year started doing something called movie knives and these are on campus so pretty much we project in this huge blow up screen on movies for students and we sell snacks and all different types of clouds and sports teams come and sell and it's just such a great experience to see all students and Gateway in directing and enjoying this these times and another one we have coming up is mini golfing at Castle I got Sherman Oaks this one along with the winter wonderland one of course these two are going to be off campus fundraising activities so we're hoping that you guys can please help us like by dropping off students picking them up allowing them to have fun also outside of campus but in a Safeway and also being able to interact not only with their peers but also with the teachers and the staff that participate in this event and it's just such a last and parents are also more than welcome to join us more information about this will be sent out as time comes but we also are planning on having a whole bunch of more fundraising activities on campus but can more information to come as we approach and if you or your are your Scholars ever have any ideas or suggestions brows were always more than welcome to take to hearing them out we are also going to plan on having we're also planning on having school spirit days so last year if you all can possibly remember we used to have school spirit weeks now we're witches and students have different themes throughout the days of weak and then they have free dress if they're able to come like according to the to that thing this year were planning on changing that and just doing spirit days so it's going to be dispersed free dress days according to the themes instead of a whole week we're also planning on having pep rallies and those are on campus as well but these are two in connection to a mister C was talking about with our sports teams this is to pump up our students since you show the school spirit and support to all of our athletes and we're hoping to be able to have our cheer team performing at cheer team not to perform during these pep rallies and just make such a fun and awesome event for for students to interact with one another next please so this is a couple pictures just from last year are school dances can get to be really really fun are show me dance break sample we're planning on having it outside and it again is one of our biggest we have for this one and four problem we have a Royal Court so we have a voting taking place run and they do all sorts of creative things to to run during these times as you guys can see one of our our students trying to promote for homecoming queen before the chances on next light please a couple examples of our spirit days this is again if you're not familiar with spirit days students get to wear free dress and connection to determine theme however would you want to ask from you guys if you could please just make sure that there are still following School dress code policy for example even though it is free dress if they are according to the theme we do ask to follow by like students not wearing ripped jeans or wearing sandals or open-toed shoes and just really trying to make it as an equitable and following the dress code policy says much as possible next time please a couple of examples from our fundraisers the winning in the middle and to the right are when we go mini-golfing at Sherman Oaks and that one should also be coming up during semester one again it's for students but parents are more than welcome to join if they would like and of course there's always Provisions the chess teacher chaperones myself was at doll and many more of our staff members will be joining us so rest assured that their supervision during these events off campus as well next light please and I do want to also make clear that notifications will be sent out through parentsquare for off-campus events as well as answer will be happening after school so if you're ever wondering like if an event really is happening always please feel free to check your emails we will be sending out notifications but also please feel free to reach out to either myself or Miss at all for any clarifying questions and I also want to just make a little announcement for any of our senior parents that we will be having a senior meeting on August 29th from 5 to 7 p.m. in person so it will be on campus so again that one will be sending out more information about it but just so it's on your radar and will be on all August 29th from 5 to 7 and during the senior meeting we will be going over senior events such as graduation grad and I each day from and just do things that are strict where are seniors as well as the senior packages with everything that they will be meeting for graduation are there any questions please feel free to to ask second hand and I'm again I see a lot of participants My name is Estella Reese I am the operations and Grant manager for the medical program at Alliance I've been out at misalliance for 5 years now I used to be the on-site program coordinator for the program I have now moved up to an overseeing manager so right now Alliance is one of the nine schools I supervise on some here to just briefly speak to you about our wonderful after school program so all students attending Alliance am I too must have & All-Stars application on file on this does not mean that you are all needed to participate in our after-school program but we need to have it on file on because it definitely supports us with providing supervision after school for athletes tutoring in college classes several events at the school cause when the office closes admin are not on site we are the first point of contact when you come and pick up your students and just for safety and liability reasons we do need to have an application on file we also provide meals after school and a lot of your students after practice or after a college class do you ask for meals and in order for us to provide them a meal we do need to have an application on file so again having this application on file give them access to the many things that we offer after school if think of it as like a membership to a gym or a membership like a credit card right as long as you have this membership you have access to all of the free discount than the sale that this membership has the same thing with after-school All-Stars every student has has to have an application on file do that when we have each other times when we have field trips it's open to all students to all students are considered All Star student I'm one of them great opportunities that we have and you'll see a picture here if we were able to take four of our seniors to Mammoth weekend all expenses paid for equipment training one-on-one training with instructors breakfast lunch dinner Hotel everything was paid for by All-Stars and again units were able to take advantage of this opportunity because they have this application on file we understand our high school is a very rigorous schedule there attending college classes after school right attitude they have jobs they participate in several or he participated in several of the events at the school is offering and we don't want the student to miss out on an amazing opportunity like mammoths just because they don't stay on asking after school every day I'm so again having this offer. Plication I'll give them access to everything that we offer I'm one of those things that is coming new neck this school year as we are going to Alfred driver's ed classes on the licenses are going to be limited by again it's going to be open to all high school students that are 16 and a half I'm in these opportunities are going to be shared with students via the Google Classroom that the counselors have with them parent orientation is going to take place on Monday June 17th at 6 p.m. be assumed that invite will go out tonight after this meeting so if you are interested in the program or you filled out an application and you said you were not interested but now you changed your mind I highly I'll encourage you to attend our parent orientation on Monday that you get more information about our program on for those families that are interested in the program you must attend parent orientation in order to complete your students enrollment into the after-school program if there are any questions are Jenna will do my best to answer them in the qna but I am here to support you in anything that you need and I look forward to seeing you students in the after-school program alright hello everyone again my name is Sabrina xall I'm one of the assistant principals for marine high school I'm going into my 7-year on Alliance am I I'm going to share with all of you are Bell schedules for the upcoming school year there were some minor shifts that I want to enter all of you are aware of so on Mondays and Tuesdays we will continue to heaven 8:30 a.m. start time and a 3:45 p.m. dismissal the only change that we see on these days is there is no more advisory on Mondays and Tuesday so these are all. Days on Wednesdays you'll see the biggest change here our start time is at 8:30 a.m. still but we now have an earlier dismissal at 2:35 p.m. and then again this is all. schedule day and then on Thursdays and Fridays this is similar to what we've had in the past these are our block schedule days we continue to have that 8:30 a.m. start time and 3:45 p.m. dismissal so again. mean change that will impact families is at 2:35 dismissal on Wednesdays and I'll leave this up for a moment just in case families do you want to take a picture of their screen so they have this easily Excel all right and then regarding supervision or campus does open at 7:30 a.m. so that is hour before our class start time after school supervision is offered 15 minutes after the dismissal Bell so that until 4 p.m. on Monday Tuesday Thursday and Friday and until 3 p.m. on Wednesdays any student that is staying after school will be required to sign in with after-school All-Stars this includes any student-athletes who are in practice or any students were staying with her Shepherd you touring we do need them to sign in for safety reasons so we can account for them and we know who is on our campus after school all right good evening happy my name is Mister Yang ini Yang so it's speaking of schedule and Bell schedules we do have a very very different schedule for our first day and that is incorporating our advisory in the morning to ensure that our students are ready for the the rest of the semester so that is what you see that we do a guy and I have 8:30 start a dismissal 3:45 with just a visery in the morning all right so in terms of cost schedules how students will be getting their class schedule on that very first day again students will find their advisory all the advisory fees will be posted on the quad it was just show me where students are going they find their advisory that's the cost of a will be headed to the very the very first class from their their advisory teacher will hand them their schedule for the day and they will just follow that schedule throughout the day and the rest of the semester now in terms of a schedule change for class we do ask students to not seek out their counselors if they decided that they don't like bugs or they want to make a special where they will just simply have to figure fill out a Google form that's provided in The Advisory grade classroom and their grade level counselors will reach out to them individually so we're asking you does not to seek out their counselors because those counselors will be more focus on students who do not have a acquainted and really an opportunity for students to practice any of our school expectations before that very first day soon as well me becoming uniform materials are that students are off to have will be provided breakfast and lunch will also be provided during that blocks of time and it is most importantly an opportunity for students to really meet and interact with these teachers are they will be working with that very first year as soon as will be checking in the MPR when they arrive and when they leave they would just be leaving from from the from the front area as well but when they come in please check in the MPR make slime so I believe this one's me so like I mentioned earlier dean of students need a culture so some of the culture stuff that we want to be present this is the sweats or any kind of sweats we are not they are not authorized to open toed shoes bootie slippers slides or any kind of sandals where the pillows are exposed in this is a safety issue where we don't want students either getting stepped on a knock on wood hopefully you got any broken toes can be proven it's so again it's a safety issue that we want that where we don't want any open toed shoes so yeah we would like only solid black or solid gray sweaters with that means is the entire sweater the entire a jacket it's a black or any shade of gray or I know we've had quite a lot of fundraisers where Alliance hoodies have been having Soul are there very comfortable and those are allowed logos on those sweaters on the solid black or solid gray sweaters they may not be larger than the palm of a hand so if I can cover with my hand it's okay if it's if it's bigger than that then it's not authorized and we will outline all the consequences that students that we have for students who fail to meet those who fail to meet those requirements next flight and then this is our uniform policy poster we've had it posted throughout our campus I believe we have sent it out to families we will gladly
