Here's the recording where you will learn about upcoming important dates and updates for the new school year 2022-2023. awesome wonderful thank you so much I miss Tina. I will be returning as well as will miss Cobbs but they are not with us tonight and with that being said I'll hand it off to mr. tried to interview some people from high school good evening welcome everybody welcome new families and returning families we have can you I'm Mr Thai I've been with the wise MIT for the past few years and I'm stepping into the role as principal and I've been with Alliance for 17 years now and I'm really excited for this year and I we have you are so stupid for that, seeing and then we have a couple culture Deeds we have Mr cantarero and Mr Campos a today so I'm going to pass pass it off to him so he could introduce himself are amazed with compos and the dean students have been with the Lions on my teeth is best for years all right we have a really we are so lucky to have a a really big team of a support staff both in terms of our counseling staff you can see here are educational psychologist as well as on the next slide you'll see a big group of our operations leaders and on the next slide we can actually yeah our operations team cartoon did you want anybody to to chime in real quickly here most of them might be here presently but I know because the sake of time we were to try and speed things up by the entire operations team a lot of you have been working with us as we are enrolling your students or a lot of you already noticed so I'll be half of the Ops Team we want to welcome everyone and we can't wait to see you all in alright that means I'm next perfect timing okay and I will miss him so I don't try to go as slowly as I can give him the time frame that we have but Mr crosstone went through the agenda today before we get into other avenues are important information that you all need to know we do need to talk a little bit about Stacey returning schools in the fall and what does that look like as you all know the last few years we have been in a pandemic and we are all trying to navigate through it and hopefully get through it so I will be sharing with you all keep points highlights of what will continue what are new procedures are new protocols in place starting in the fall that we you all know what to expect when you start in August so just a little brief overview of the I suppose for making any decisions as a network we've made sure since 2020 that we have been guided with all decisions when it comes to health and safety Scholars learning scholar will be Equity communication on boy an organizational sustainability and we have been using the following resources to inform specific and compliant protocols which is the California Department of Public Health and also leusd part of that I do want to highlight for this past spring as a network we provided over 500,000 rapid covid test network-wide that's a lot and also face mask we provide more than mppe supplies more than 300,000 across the network hundred percent of our staff are vaccinated or exempt eighty percent of our students in the entire network which the promo video mentioned we have 26 schools 13,000 students 80% of the students are fully vaccinated or partially vaccinated and 91% attendance 3 or above 90% attendance remain for all schools which speaks volumes knowing that we came back from from being at home so that just mean no tells your commitment from from students and and our school staff safety at Alliance Alliance MIT will continue to build upon a culture of safety and appearance to Public Health protocols will continue to make sure that we're treating all positive cases and following protocols as needed most of them will be similar from previous years we will be implementing health and safety practices to include that everyone gets all their PPE supplies at schools I'm staying safe and clean are we will be following County guidelines for reopening and exposure management and we will be implementing an adjusting any network policies based on guidance that we received from the state the district excetera so key policies or areas that we will be changing slightly or maybe drastically for some the first for highlighted and yellow will be new information for all returning and you've please and then the remaining items at the bottom that are just highlighted and white those will remain the same pay for my returning families so for covid-19 cases I won't go into detail. a lot of you already familiar with this whenever we find out if a case we will continue to follow through on our protocol at and making sure that they're being isolated that we're testing uncles contacts that were testing students after day 35 and that we are making sure that no one is getting infected and that any any student who is or was or even a staff member that tested positive on site ensure that they follow the isolation. Need to go before they return to site so that'll remain the same as we have been operating last school year and for a lot of my returning my new families a lot of this information will be very similar to how your previous School Elementary or your other Middle School used to handle things we follow very similar protocols as multiples do if and when a student or staff member where did test positive on site we will self isolate them and obviously contact my parents immediately and ensure that the student is being picked up and then that we didn't always sanitize clean those areas and we do our reporting as needed and then our covid point of contact team will activate and you know make sure that we turn on all communication that not just those that of the infected in a family are in our you know communicated about the situation but also I need clothes contacts so we try to make sure that we we involve and communicate clearly anyone that might of potentially being might have been in close contact to that individual in regards to close contact racing in the event of a positive case we will contact race any individual who was you know how to expose you're with that that person within the 48 hour time frame close contacts for the purpose of school please contact tracing now like let's just say that maybe you were not a close contact then you won't you no get tested you won't be how to find out the clothes contact but close contacts for the purpose of school-based contact tracing are not individuals with exposure potential exposure outside so I'll tour setting we will not consider you as a close, individuals with potential exposures outside of school School related extracurricular activities are individuals with an infectious person in their household and then close contacts or anyone in just a reminder in a refresher for some of you close contacts or anyone within six feet of an infected person on wall indoors or anyone who shared the same airspace of an infected individual endorse so a lot of those you know scenario still apply and colors for close contacts they will have to remain asymptomatic have no symptoms okay they have to test negative on day 3 and 5 and they will have to wear a mask indoors during that that you know I catching her you know the drink them on a train. So if you were identified as a close contact you can remain on site as long as you're following these three bullet points which is you're not feeling symptoms you're getting tested and you're making sure you're negative and that you're wearing a mask as you know as informed we will make sure to communicate to our families we do a lot of the covid acronym communication through parents force a lot of our returning families you guys are used to this you're used to getting our Communications but our new families we will talk a little bit about parents Brandi coming slide but just make sure that when we do provide you with that information that you activate your app and that you create your login information so that you receive Ausable communication not just Cobra related communication but also school-wide announcement and then covid testing protocol so this is a big change for the new school year so all Alliance was not just Alliance a mighty will complete full population Baseline testing after any breakup three school days or more so after long weekend breaks like summer break winter break in on spring break excetera in an effort to mitigate increase covid from traveling saberian for the first day of school all students and staff will rapid test during the first period of the day so when your students start in August yes the first date as soon as they going to their first. They will all get get tested as a the entire School population and we only do rapid testing so we no longer use PCR testing families were interested in that they would have to obtain that PCR test option through Insurance primary care provider or just an external testing site with that said and I don't know if my in my previous light communicated that but covid testing will not be happening weekly how we were doing it this previous school year so this previous school year every beginning of the week we would do covid testing for the entire school that will no longer be the case starting in August we will only do it after on weekends breaks Etc or as needed we will also continue to provide covid testing for students and staff for these three following reasons Alliance will continue to do that for staff and Scholars too dumb symptoms of anyone's on-site feeling sick we will definitely touch them they will go to the nurse's office we will isolate them test them and if they are positive they will get sent home and then Alliance will continue to Attitash stop and Scholars who were closed context of a positive individual who was on site only for on-site cases so we will as soon as we know someone positive well our team will activate identify post context we will pull those students or staff members get them Austin I'm in follower close contact protocol in policy and then Alliance will continue to allow asymptomatic now in close contact so you can opt-in and test if you'd like and we we will be offering the service more formation will come to you all once the school year start I will not go into detail for that portion but we just want to make sure that you know that this will be be be said expectation for covid testing once we begin the school year and then this slide pretty much covers exactly what I just mentioned so students doing symptomatic will go to the nurse's office and then we will get them tested and and do all that close contacts will get identified test Monday 3 and 5 and then we will make sure to Pollo a la puerta cost for that covid testing policy details Scholars one thing for my new families you definitely don't know this information. But Scholars can consent to test if they are 12 years old need your older without a parent consent or present if your child is younger than 12 years old then school nurse. Will contact you directly to ensure that we know we we get consent before we test dude but if you have any covid related questions or testing information any any questions that you have you are always welcome to contact our main office or come visit us in person at the main office we will provide hopefully an answer to any of your questions and like I mentioned earlier we are doing rapid testing so this is just a quick overview a lot of you I'm sure are used to this these are like the at home testing what's the ones where you swap your nose you drop in the the the drops into the little panel and then you'll get the results so this is the type of testing that we will be using on site and for my returning families this has not changed from last school year and I'm asking everyone wants to know what we still will we still be required to wear I'm asking doors so returning families you know Outdoors that was not required at some point in the spring semester but indoor was still required and it is currently still required for those students and staff that are still on site during the summer but starting in August when teachers and staff returned and students return potentially change but we don't know the answer just yet so after July 29th families and staff of Alliance will receive a communication form a network office to inform us of our new mask mandate so it can potentially stay as is or it can potentially go to not being Mast indoors okay so we do not have that information just yet but we just wanted to make sure that you are aware and that communication will be sent to you prior to the first day of school and we will continue to still have masks available regardless of what decision is made will have covid testing hand sanitizer and disinfectant stations excetera all of that will still be available everyone that visits and is on campus on a day-to-day basis and our daily cleaning disinfecting of our building that has not stopped and will and it will not stop so we will make sure that this happens daily and then Escobedo currents that we do the extra deep clean on that is needed right and then events activities will we be ever to ever have in person activities and it's look answer is yes so we will be transitioning into allowing more in-person events this new school year so I know our team and you know a lot of the students are going to be excited for this so we do look forward to bringing this back when we start doing those events and we start bringing in activities that all you know allow for more people together and be in person we will provide guidance as needed for the most part yes we should be going to back to in-person activities and then the last portion to this section staff scholar and visitor vaccinations on requirement so I know a lot of parents are asking does my child have to have the covid vaccine before starting so the answer is all Scholars regardless of vaccination status have an in-person learning option for the school year so no you do not your seller does not have to have their covid vaccine given by the start of the school year Alliance will continue to incur bridge that you don't you guys vaccinated monitor but it looks like leusd will be implementing a mandate for the start of the next following school year so July 1st of 2020 3rd so you guys will have plenty of time between now and then but as of now you do know your child does not have to have the covid vaccine to start the school year and for all of our parents that love to visit us and help volunteer we will be aligned visitors Compass you guys will obviously make sure that you know will it will check in self screen before coming in if you're feeling sick please do not come you guys will check in and our stuff in the office will assist you with directing you to area that you were visiting and then I will now allow Purex testing to come in and talk to you a little bit I know a lot of you have been getting our Communications through parentsquare to enroll your child through Purex testing I'm still a representative from church this year to give a very quick brief presentation and then if you all have any questions for them or for myself or any other team members remember we will take questions at the very end of the presentation okay I will take over from here hello a mighty Alliance my name is Susan and I work with your ex testing my colleagues Mandy Nanny and Jose are also yesterday on this webinar we are just so happy to be at MIT allowed at Alliance to be able to provide covid testing for the staff and students at the school we've already currently started with a summer school and we'll be continuing through fall on just to give you a little bit of background about us we have been working with covid testing and administering covid testing since the beginning of pandemic in March of 2020 have an abundance of experience working at a large Ms that you might be familiar with such as Dodger Stadium like a devil Parts just to name a couple people really is to provide a free and quick testing for all the students and staff and to make it as Brianna mean as fast and as seamless as possible not sure if you're aware but covid test all the cases are currently on the rise again also we definitely want to make sure that we test as many students as possible on a regular basis so we can continue to keep the staff and students healthy and safe and also so that we can continue to keep your school open awesome meanwhile I'm sure you received a communication from the school all such as a flyer that you're seeing before the first day of school we really request that all can log on on to that code or the link and go ahead and register your student so that we can make sure that they are tested we plan on being at the school on Mondays and Tuesdays from about 8 a.m. and we will be test that's fine so everyone really must sign out by the first day of school if anyone has any problems or need any help signing up we are more than happy to provide a response on Mondays and Tuesdays while we are at their as well so and also if you have any questions please feel free to also contact us email us also at might be some parents I have some questions in regards to registration up for any parents that do feel free to throw those on the in the chatter Q&A and Susan if you don't mind assisting with thanks so much Susan I think I put the correct email in the chat but if I didn't if you could correct it in for families if you have a question either in English or in Spanish you can put that we are going to move into the handbook highlights and we are highlighting things if either got change or things that are just really important to know so we're going to go ahead and move into that now for those of you who are joining us for the first time you may not know our mission statement it is a little bit long I was going to say that basically what we're all about is making sure the students grow and develop and that they are ready to get into and graduate from college and so that is what we are focused on and a lot of the policies you're going to see here or directly related to that let's go to the next slide for next slide this is a shift citizenship back to normal with our attendance policies last year with our return to school sites coming back for that first year for the pandemic we didn't monitor how many excused absences student has like we have in Prior years this year the 22 23 school year we are going back with our door policy where a student is allowed up to 7 Excuse excuse each school year for an asset to be excused you have up to 5 days to communicate with her or operations teams to get that documented Weatherby dental medical or like service they had to attend and then there are a lot of details on this in the handbook out my team this this process and policy but we just really wanted to highlight and clarify that there is a shift back to we kids are only allowed that the 7 excuse thank you mr. try also wanted to add our operations lead Miss back to sorry and she is dropping all the links to the handbooks on the chat so if any parents would like to follow you're welcome too if not most of you have been receiving the handbook this week that when you've been visiting our campus when are the shifts that we're going to be making sure that we monitor a little better to make sure that students are one presentable and always ready to learn in the classroom is going to be our uniforms so we are going to make sure that students are wearing a shirt at all times even if find a sweatshirt or a jacket on this has to be worn during break and even at lunch time as soon as they're going to be required to wear pants were the middle school which is 6 through 8th grade going to be black pants long skirts for those students we are going to ask that students do not have any open toed shoes which includes Croc slippers sandals Etc students are also students and families are going to be asked to make sure that students they have black or gray sweatshirts without any hoods or Alliance sweaters I'm sorry go back and then go back to the previous slide and then for a high school it's going to be khaki pants shorts or skirts for high school students so that's going to be for the high school and then in the next life we have some images of what a polos are going to be for both Middle School 6th grade we have blue 7th grade purple page we have read I'm in for 9th grade we have navy blue and maroon 11th grade grey 12s black and then we also have images of the sweaters for both middle and high take me to cubero it just a bill bond that for High School this year the shirts that students are wearing or allied with the credit they have for high school really pushing are complex really this idea that our kids are graduating within four years and on track to graduate in so to be on track to graduate and promote the shirt color you need to assume you'll need to have those credits so a 9th grader would need to have the 55 credits before they can promote to the 10th grade maroon shirt and some will be communicating out what what should students should be receiving for those perfect and then I am seeing questions on the chat I'm concerned about some of the polos not having the School logo are we understand that and it's something that were making sure to get address so don't think you received the wrong polar anything or student will not get in any trouble or of any store because they do I have the logo we understand there was just something you lay with our provider so as long as they're wearing the correct grade level Polo they're going to be fine and then we also have images of what students should be wearing for bottoms example we have two black chinos or asking no shorts for middle school students but we understand some students might have specifics students and Families my husband sific situations or requirement will feel free to email me up in my email on the chat as well for a high school we are asking khaki colored pants and then for high school students shorts are going to be okay and then families are also going to receive weekly messages with a ton of information and about are the uniforms for the Middle School to Valero students and you're also going to also have direct links for Amazon or Target where you can see and actually purchase the dating a Frenchman there as well and just start to build on this as well. I didn't answer to the question to chat middle school will be a black and then high school will be khaki so that way the uniform easily identifies great as well as whether their high school or middle school I mean it's something that we are going to high life is we want families as soon as to make sure that the possible for their devices any damages do any computers or anything that belongs to the school family will get charged a bill for it on students are also expected in this is all messaged out in she just talked about this as well as admin are expected to use technology and internet at school and at home in an appropriate manner parents were also asking parents guardian and everybody else will monitor that closely while they're at school or even sometimes when they're at home where are able to monitor is some of the use that's students for their technology as well also something that we did notice this past year many of the situations that come up us specifically with middle and high school students is a lot of social media problems so we're asking families to support our staff by making sure that they're being responsible when specially with cell phones we're asking parents and Guardians to if your I was going to have a phone I'll make sure that you're closely monitoring their usage on any social media platforms students are actually going to we're going to build on this next slide as well since we're going to be asked to actually use a a pouch for their going to store their phone at the beginning of the day for the middle school students this year to make sure that we just minimize the time that they're spending on their device and instead focus on the lesson I'm learning that's happening next class but we want to make sure that we provide a responsible space for them throughout the entire day if if you if you need to connect with your child or any emergency you can always count the main office to relay any message for your child as well and and something else that we're going to also ask is for family to talk to children or to students about is going to be airpods smart watches or any portable speakers to make sure that they're put away and I'll get it over to that's what Manner or in the pouches that they're going to be provided with going to be a Yonder bag on students who are caught with their cell phones will have a three-strike consequences them the first one is easy on the screen is going to be a one-day confiscation which I meant him hold on to it and a safe look in the safe space in our offices second offense if it'll be confiscated for the remainder of that week will ask a parent or Guardian to pick up the device from the the third offense is actually going to be complicated for the rest of the semester and again this is something that will cover with students at the beginning of the year as well something that we just wanted to make sure that all my parents knew is that our teachers do not request that students use cell phones in the classroom there are some schools that do that but our school is not one of them we find that cell phones are distracting both in the classroom and outside of the classroom and when I say distracting outside of the classroom almost all of the conflicts that students have with one another not all of them them start with people using careless or profane language with one another online online on social media most of the time on Instagram and so with parents as partners we know that you want your soon-to-be successful we want your students to be successful if you have not yet gotten your student a smartphone I would consider looking into other options which will talk about just a second if you have gotten them a smartphone I would look at different policies or policies in your family to make sure that they're using it responsibly and following people who are using it responsibly we go to the next line I have an 11 year old going into 6th grade and most of her friends and that we've been talking with the families we are using devices that parents can still text the child children can still text their parents but they are not a smart and able they're not having unlimited access to the internet and they're not having unlimited access to social media is something that I would definitely look into a we had a lot of students who missed days because I'm feeling sad a lot of the bullying that takes place takes place online so if there's anything you can do to help us with that I would be very very helpful for your student to have the best experience in middle school and high school as infirmary high school did the cell phone policy is very similar to Middle Schools where where students shouldn't have during the school day it's a distraction from learning as well as I can have some negative social ramifications and at the end of the day we want to make sure our school we have a school where kids feel safe and can prioritize instruction because of this if it's soon does have their phone out we teachers will confiscate it for the. And then from there I can escalate where the phone to be held up to a day a week excetera where parents will need to pick it up see a difference soon as refusing to give up a phone the consequences will also escalate where I pair may need to pick it up or have a conference about some of the behavior yeah I just the suits are responsible for personal property so if they don't need it for school I I strongly recommend is that I'm not bringing it to school they are responsible for it and we just don't want it Ted to go missing in so it's just best if they don't need it for school to not bring it to school and where asthma spartina saber we are increasing the number of activities we have and we're going to continue with sports club Student Government field trips and other activities in as we do a lot of these things that since they're looking forward to do we need to make sure they're eligible based on a Cadet and it and behavior in order to participate students participating in any school activity that happens after Ever After School must be enrolled in her all stars after school program yeah and for students to participate in these extracurricular activities they do have to have a GPA of 2.0 or better I know for a sports team you can have more than two and pieces in addition to that until there aren't we do have expectations to be able to participate in these dances and sports excetera all right for those we're just joining us we do use a program called Dean's List and we also send home to the parents emails updates about their progress you can expect updates about their progress at least every 5 weeks but for the Middle School were exploring options with Dean's List to make that more more frequent and I know High School is also looking to make those reports and more frequent it generally has information about attendance their behavior at school I and those are used for getting eligibility for our school events field trip student store excetera a real important both for eight and 12 grade culmination graduation and beer events move up day students are expected to follow through on all the expectations and make sure that they are maintaining good academic standing which means my grades need to be a fuse or above if there are issues with students maintaining those grades or if behavioral expectations are not met we normally go through a process of appeal and those are required for this dude be able to participate in those combinations and graduations I can cover the suction just a couple highlights for health and safety we do keep emergency cards on site for all students and staff students must have all known covid immunization on record so this is non covid-19 ization so all their immunizations up-to-date if any of your students are missing immunizations we will definitely be in contact with you those that don't have all their immunizations will not be able to start physically on skip school August 10th immigration enforcement on-site Administration will ensure that you know we follow protocol accordance to the law medication including epipens can be administered on site we just need proper documentation that will be provided from our office and doctor needs to sign excetera so if you have any child that needs to take medication on side or you need us the house there EpiPen do to any any allergy please make sure you speak to her office staff so that they can provide you with the proper documentation to get that cleared and so that a nurse can have that available in our in our nurses office Public School staff are mandated reporters so Google report any suspicion of child abuse and or suicide risk and administration May conduct searches based on Reasonable Suspicion as needed to maintain a safe School that's something that we also want to highlight is at Alliance MIT we have zero tolerance for harassment discrimination and bullying on campus or we ask all families and students be cumin get a report anything if anything is to occur or something we tell students during our me at 3 to meetings all the time as if you see something say something and then we do follow Outlet USB cord conduct and suspension what's an expectation again going back to social media we ask parents Guardians to make sure that they do not allow for unlawful underage use of social media plan we asked families to monitor their students social media use and or cell phone or computer and messaging while we also asked families to report and document any inappropriate behaviors we also families to discontinue what does continued child use of social media is necessary to protect child social and emotional well-being failure to meet these requirements may result in disciplinary action and or BFF Adams or a police investigation of law all right I just want to say that the involvement parents is really critical to us achieving our mission and parents really are partners and it's one of the most important things for us going forward is to have your help and support at home you're the next slide why is it so important while the road to College of challenging if you're not familiar with some of the percentages very few students especially coming from a low-income areas are able to achieve hang in there college degree and we want that to be an option for all of our students I'm in sixth grade more than half of our students start more than two years behind in math and and read so our mission is to make sure that they're ready to be successful high school and college and we definitely need parents of work to make that happen as part of that we have many different routes to communicating with you and we would really appreciate if you could take the time make sure that you are getting all of them and if you're not let us know one of those is parentsquare it is an app you can download it to your phone it is also a website parentsquare.com where you can access information it also allows you to message the teachers and the staff of the school power school is really important for being able to access students grades it will also show you which assignments that your student is missing if they are missing assignments almost all students who are not passing a class or who have a c in a class are either not turning working or not completing it when they turn it in and you can find that information on PowerSchool every week we have a newsletter called they're ready to review the get sent out on Friday you can find it Mason at Alliance and mighty. Carlson for high school the schedule remains very similar to what it did last year start time is always 8:30 Monday Tuesday Wednesday kids will have all of their their classes and Thursday Friday Heather block schedules where they can have more time to get deeper into, content for assessments excetera one shift that we do have is that Wednesday is an early release day to allow for professional development Network 6 schools and this is time where are teachers won't be able to work with other teachers that teach the same content at other Alliance schools share resources build curriculum and provide the best instruction possible for your son and daughter list of Wednesday's dismissal will be at 3 p.m. Monday Tuesday Thursday Friday every other day of the week does smoked dismissal will be at 3:45 so again always at 8:30 start time 3:45 dismissal with exception of Wednesday which is the 3 p.m. dismissal time so are school hours for supervision School side is going to open and we do have supervision started at 7:30 we are asking families to not drop off students prior to that because we will not have supervision before 7:31 after school all students who are signed up in All Stars pro must report to their designated area immediately after school all students should wait and their designated Squad areas for parent or Guardian pick up we only have after-school supervision available for 30 minutes after dismissal time any students saying pass a 30-minute window will be required to sign up for after-school program or they will be asked to leave campus supper is available for all students and after-school program and Ark will close at 6 p.m. sharp with again with early-morning supervision students cannot answer campus and then leave campus this is a major safety concern so for example like we do liquor store in a donut shop not too far from us one student center campus we are responsible for them.
