Let's go back to our agenda in the next item will be all business formation call spending mister should I are here and said just a reminder this section is where are pencils and residents are updates as a nation with us as they see members about things that are happening on both sides of the complex things are going great some things that they would love some things that they want to celebrate our events accomplishments and then any requests for feedback. after I drink but I'll have it I believe Carlson was a meeting first cell have missed your call since I'm a little bit earlier and some of the items I just want to make sure that families know about we are coming to the end of February the beginning of March is lpac testing season and then we kind of get a couple weeks off in April before we start the cast testing season so I'll pack testing that is our testing our yearly testing end of your testing primarily for our students who are Ariel's and so no no no no sorry sweetie that's my four year old to sign in to try to come by and say hi and happy that she has to leave I'm sorry about that the Sol pack testing is the testing for arielle's are four sections there's the reading the writing the speaking and listening and so are the testing takes quite a while because of that and a lot of the the month of March as we have to test each student individually for the speaking section so that's coming up and starting next week for the middle school I believe it starting at the around the same time for the high school benchmark testing is going on right now it is basically a practice state test called the ICA and that happened last week for middle school and this week for Middle School I believe it's happening the same for high school as well I am and lastly very very big event happening tomorrow is our leusd you visit so as a as a charter school we have to be authorized by LAUSD and even if we are authorized for LAUSD for 3 years or 5 years I just in case for Alliance of my teeth every year LAUSD comes and does a check in that involves collecting hundreds of documents it involves putting together our financial records and they do a visit where we visit classrooms and they review all the documents and we answer questions and so those are the the monthly updates for the ssac committee if there's any questions about any of those things I'm happy to take those yeah that's about it for high school mr. Carlson spoke a lot about the things that are complex so very similar to what we've been doing some of our interim testing we have our task testing her elpac test in coming up and the big one of their oversight visit tomorrow some of the things that are more specific for high school is Friday this week we have our upcoming movie Nights we have some soon events are seniors are currently in the process of finalizing finalizing FAFSA locations of receiving College acceptance letters which is really excited and we have an upcoming March Saturday where we're going to be reviewing some of the interim data to adjust instruction to prep for the end of the year and that's what we doing for the upcoming people Days Inn in in March and that that is kind of what has been happening in what what is happening in the next couple months moving forward and then leading in the baby will have a festive season with like a seasoned cast I real quick recharge I just want to make sure not everybody may know what happened on Saturday yeah something bad is going to share that yeah so this past Saturday or sports team are girl call soccer team just won the CIF championship and they be another line School Alliance during mass and we ended up being that the champions for the info for our division we went on and played in The Regionals yesterday or are girls and some staff and students we're best out we fought really hard unfortunately our our seat is in there but we're really excited because almost all of our girls and boys I'm returning for next year for for the soccer season because we do a lot of underclassmen that were were key players in our teams sacm is any questions for our for our leaders here yes as mr. call Stone Sheridan mr. chili if if you didn't hear this already Alliance MIT was the is the first-ever alliance to win a CIF championship in any sport for our girls so we're really proud of that and and another accomplishment that that I know the team is really excited about you see University of California system acceptances are now coming out this month and we're really excited we had our early admissions to uc-berkeley which is one of the top public universities in in America and he just had one of our students who have been with us in 6th grade got into his dream School UC Santa Cruz so congratulations to all the work that everyone's doing but SSI be any questions for our principal I thank you thank you a gentleman for your time I'll now go ahead and transition us to our alcal progress so today like I shared his sister is a recap really quick as we go into as a relatively short mean the look if I can get share screen access you see my eyes are crossed out and yes I did D-backs SS you should be good now yep so I'm going to go ahead and share my screen give me a thumbs up if you are able to see the screen thank you and so Jen this meeting is short mostly recap next meeting like I said multiple times please be prepared for a longer meeting as we discussed budget but as a reminder that we've been doing this with our students with our staff numbers just a reminder about are always right commitments you know we talked about being always ready not everyone knows when we say what what is ready means that's like we are always respectful engaged animal determined and your personal best self as you think about this meeting and as we think about the worth moving forward we're always ready and we're committing to these commitments we're always respectful I am committed to speaking to the person not about the person we're always engaged and we commit to building authentic and inclusive relationship we're always accountable and commits a walking our top like when we say we're going to do something we make it happen we are always determined and committed to the vision and success of our entire Community to make sure every student family stop number here is being successful and then we are committed to being always our personal best leading a joyful balance and purposeful life you can't stop commitment without MIT at the center and tell him to make sure that we're continuing to be always ready in the last meetings we've talked about our school my priorities around ABC academic achievement beliefs and behavior behaviors and culture of collaboration we talked about our students being scholarly thinkers powerful communicators Wellness speakers resilient Learners and Community advocates in this year of the returns from the pandemic for continuing to work on making sure we have good teachers from teaching and learning a thriving school where students are safe and healthy are setting our students in our. Sanford wellness and belonging we have our conditions for future success so helping our students and families be successful beyond their years ago at Alliance MIT and then also committing to being an anti-racist School in commute as we were reviewing our absenteeism from last time we are continuing to work on a chronic absenteeism rate Alliance MIT has it currently higher absenteeism rate than our alliance average by about 45 per cent and so we want to make sure that in addition to communicating about the handbook we're doing more in-person intervention they're communicating about the steps for a student who is chronically absent when we think about the percentages of our Scholars that are three or more grade levels below in English and math these numbers are where we want them to be right 35% in ela and 27% of math and then 44 and 54 in in Meridian High School world of numbers below are at the alliance average and we know that we still have a lot of work to do we just started are tutors the past couple weeks to adding additional tutoring services to support our Scholars English language arts so this is some new data that I'm sharing in English language arts on the cast in in 2020 to Alliance I'm icy was 57.7% Ferrari middle school and high school students compared to La unified that is what they were at 43% and then the state was at 48.9 so we're proud that despite socioeconomic differences despite take me to have a higher such education population and other challenges that are Community my face we are still above the district averages and the state averages for English language arts as a continuing work on this providing intervention the remediation and also think thanks for the work we did last month we talked about wanting to review curriculum curriculum that we've seen a word from me Westwood High School and then working to provide more motivational strategies for students in mathematics this is where we're going to see some gout right so in math we know that this is an a challenge are your breasts are are average for Middle School and High School's 28.4% were still above the district average but compared to the state and again with this that's when they look at the state averages that also includes the wealthiest districts in California that includes like Beverly Hills your your Hollywood to be include you're like Chino Valley like San Mateo's Etc even with the highest income districts in California in ela we're still above but if not we are below the state average for mouth call the richest neighborhoods the most successful neighborhood but we want to be above that and so we've talked a lot about yes we're beating the district but we want to continue in prayer and so that's why we've included moron and are tutor support we talked a little bit up when we talked about our dashboard we want to increase her extracurricular opportunities for making a significant investment into a sports bra the really be about the programs both the middle school and high school this week we have a middle school basketball tournament and we're starting our March Madness tournaments at lunch and for high school like we just shared we won CIAA Open soccer we've gotten our League championships and now we're going to be continuing and Vasan are sports programs and other extracurricular opportunities when we when we look at our our budget for the next time we have worked to increase stopping counseling psychologist support in Richmond at cetera a couple areas at least a couple areas that might be tough to get into upcoming budget translation services most likely will remain in-house given the budget work that we had to do so far we are working on additional space so that's something I'm really excited about and working to do some curriculum development with our staff but the one idea that we had last month that might that might be tough to get is that our site translation services everything else we feel pretty good about that mr. Charlie mr. Crosstown home office and I are going to be able to address in the new budget that we present are we talked last time about raising our bell schedule so you'll be seeing it over the next couple of over the next month when we meet again we're going to be showing some potential bell schedule that we might need that we will be looking at and again it's like the potentially have the same minimum days and times having early early release. Make it a little more convenient for our students families and staff and supporting professional development that are social personal needs and the last thing that I share here we have our board meeting coming up our alliance wide board meeting coming up next Wednesday I encourage all of us to attend by the one thing out about Alliance MIT if you weren't aware was honored as one of the best schools for advanced placement computer science for supporting our young women to be successful on in computers classes AP exams in preparing them for STEM related careers so one of our students will be presenting at the upcoming board meeting so really proud of the work that we're doing especially for a young women in computer science but also all of our our population I felt with that said I'm going to stop sharing thank you for letting me do a quick recap and review before we close out before we close out the section are there any questions that you have for me so nothing or voting on for El Caporal budget today but wanted to give an update of what we've been doing especially as it relates to budget I actually had a question if this has ever been brought up before but just because this week know how it's been raining the weather and a lot of us. don't regularly pick up my son cuz he's lucky enough privilege knows I guess to be on the bus but I noticed the traffic that you know that it forms outside of the street and it's kind of crazy because of the whole oncoming traffic I come see you has there ever been anything brought up like in the way that maybe you know someone that could be more I don't know maybe that's fine or something that lets the traffic know that you're stopped in the line I know it's a lane of the street that you're turning into the street to go and pick up the kids sorry I'm like choking out here no that's no that's exactly it like we meet let's work because of your parent feedback over the years that's how we've been able to put the no parking find a good couple years ago to get rid of this RV that was blocking I'm going to share that feedback with the city about providing lights whether it's signage and communication like is that far right lane it does go backed up so is that she had a rainy day and if you don't like today it snowed so hopefully it doesn't sound too much like over here but now that's a great suggestion as the more I look into it and see if there's any sign into communication that we can do a we did a lot on Allegheny I'm curious what the city will let us do for San Fernando that's a great point I think it would be a good sorry I just for the record LOL just join Bonita Sandoval the list thank you and then thank you Miss Mara ya thank you and I think if there's a way that maybe you know where the community can come together and children's safety and you know just to be always ready it will be a good I mean I could help that we can do you know I'm logged in for helping in any way possible that way we can make it a little safer for our students and Families absolutely absolutely I've known especially that day like last week it was like pouring pouring rain. I definitely I think I got I think I got a cold being out there freezing so I definitely appreciate that be back so the next one at this is a voting items I don't want to put too much pressure on this just their there has been a request to potentially move our ssac meetings Tuesday's at the same time 3:30 I just said to allow our teachers and our administrators to be able to make it during the during the time and not miss professional development I am flexible on what we decide to do for this year but I didn't want to put it out that there was a request to potentially move this meeting from Wednesday's the Tuesdays which would mean for the remaining April and May April may have one in June but it should be short anyway but April May and June potentially having at the date earlier on Tuesdays wanted to get the feedback from the group before we put for the motion I know there's going to request I think we will most likely end up moving this date for next year the one in to see what the thoughts were about moving the meeting this year and feel like the nesac member I'd love to hear some discussion before before we vote I think it's a good idea it actually would we best for me too because I am a teacher is also I did it's a little challenging for me on Wednesday but Thursday is early dismissal at the school I work for so it will work perfect for me thank you anyone else have any thoughts this is asking a lot but you can go I can also talk to you about this but I actually would not be able to on Tuesdays but I can try to like see what I can do ya not that I have my cross how to say it's right after school it's more than once a month but I just put it out there as well that's helpful famous McClurkin this sharing of Wednesday's work best for her anyone else want to share their thoughts are be back before we and we might not even like we could put forth put forth emotion or if there's not enough interest to begin with we can stick with Wednesdays for this year and then make the switch fall next year sorry can you repeat the last thing you said you don't like it is there if there's not enough interest to want to switch it to Tuesday's to begin with I would say we don't put for the motion and just Cindy weather Wednesday meetings but I also like some feedback that we had about like not wanting to have people Miss professional development having people be available at cetera I am a kid not putting forth emotion are any I said this would be convenient for you but I think it sounds like most are Wednesdays that's fine I can do Wednesdays it's not it's not big deal for me so just you know it was just a great suggestion but I mean Wednesday is fine sounds good so we're not move forward with a vote here mr. Mister Crosstown you and I reversible will work on figuring out how that work schedule eyes and I'd be glad to finish this out as long as you're able to kind of see the meaning and I think we're good right I'm going to move forward but not going to move over that boat there will continue and Wednesday meeting but we will open it up for any public comments so I'm missing both of you want to take us to that before we close out today I guess it's just a public comment so you have a common concern question this is the time for you so just could you can put it in the chat or you can open your mic and ask you a question I don't see any questions cuz it's out it is now 402 yes or a 2 I did and I'm not sure if you admit it at the time that you said that you enjoyed it sorry there you go thank you very much play again let sleep after next when the following month I appreciate the feedback here and we wanted it to look at the meeting dates we were trying to see if Tuesday will be an option but we can make that change for next year thanks team
