I'm not mr. Thai recording is in progress excellent my name is Erik Karlsson I am the principal residence for the School Bellaire Middle Academy I am not Mister chai I'm not as attractive nor as imposing however he is in the middle of starting a PD for high school and he will be joining us a little later so I just want to welcome everybody to our ssac meeting where we have a diverse group of educational partners that work together to try to make sure that our school is doing the best that I can and it's a place of information sharing and a feedback getting and we're excited to have you all here so welcome thank you so much and with that I believe I'm passing it off to miss McClurkin to call us to order hello how are you good afternoon sister. China I presented some information just about what's going on with middle school and high school and so for parents and for the rest of our staff we are really excited with the starting of the new semester so new semester starts today we have a day off on Monday for Martin Luther King Day so that is coming up so for those Middle School parents this week Wednesday the first day of school was a was a not late start Wednesday I know it's a weird negative way of saying it but we had a normal start 8 a.m. next Wednesday we will also have a normal start time of 8 a.m. because we will not have school on Monday other things that are going on with middle school at this time is reflecting on our data so and this is something with with the high school so we spent the last couple of days looking over our data for the Middle School both for reading and math especially looking over the data from all the i-Ready tests and so I think I might need permission from the from Alliance here or from Mississippi by Sir miss miss a bottle but I can actually share my screen and give like a little bit information I don't know if it's going to let me let me stop sharing so that you can share let me see if I can see it's kind of a special day missed y'all go everybody should know happy birthday brother thank you and I did agree with the approval of the wreck the record of what we will be been calling minutes but our record and yeah thank you very much to the leadership here for running the meeting and just for fun I think it's funny she won't go with the the way you're behind or in front of a very dark curtain it looks like you have no hair and I could pull out bald potentially yeah I like them I decided to shave my head or if this has started going away like that maybe I could pull up also that was the point of this meeting and me guava Baldwin are you in combat or make it happen for what it's worth all right I don't know I know you stop sharing this whole bottle but I think I think anybody who's not a host can't share can't their screens and that's that's not horrible I'll just kind of narrate for our parents are a lot of our staff have already seen this data so I'll just come and narrate for our our parents, what's going do I just said I just said okay so let me see here all right give me one moment and I should be able to share that Yancey Anka just got some like Rogaine or some other thing to tell me get my hair back Happy New Year to all of our parents that are here students than and I our staff thank you very much for stay back in school all right so unfortunately that is being my own privileges or a little bit denied on my own computer because this is the first time I'm doing Zoom with this computer so instead of sharing that screen unfortunately or you know what else I can do is I can actually share this with mr. So you're the one putting the stuff on the screen send it to me so far because I gave you the coast so I'm not a house anywhere so we can do for you or presentation and you should be able to jump on parents I don't know how well you'll be able to see it with your current device if you can't see it. we can narrate out some of what we see here but for the parents who can see or who the stop for the staff who can see although some of them have already seen this this is our math data looking from the beginning of the school year back to back to a November when we took the second I ready and so my question for for the team and Ferrara ssac here is what do you notice in terms of the difference so this line here the fall line that was the first test we took and the most recent tests we took is the one in November what do you notice about the date in the math growth at Alliance Valera Middle Academy and if it's easier to put things in the chat cuz I just noticed couple things pop up in the chat that's I think that's Happy Birthday Misha Taco yes it is if you would like to put your comments in the chat you can you can also come off mute but what do You observe what you notice in just for those for those people who are looking to add an i-Ready report for the first time darker green with the stripes that's above grade level green is on grade level yellow is one grade level below read without the stripes is two grade levels below and dark red is three or more grade levels below so what do you notice about the math data at alliance with Larry for the first semester there was an improvement towards the end and so let's see so what do you like what what are you observing their missing l VI where it says that the children are two grade levels below with three or more grade levels below low this red and then the red stripes are less for the most recent test it's supposed to the first round on the first test there were 162 students that were three or more grade levels below on the second test only 120 so 42 kids moved out of three or more years below up to either one year below or two grade levels below and we reduce another way to say that is we reduce the percentage of students scoring three or more years below from 36 to 27% so there was a there was a big growth away from 3 or more years below and on the other side looking at our students that are on grade level or above grade level we went from 16% on grade level or above grade level to 25% on grade level or above grade level and so that lets us know that. play did we move students from three or more years below up but we also moved some of our students who were right there in the middle up to on grade level in advance so that that's kind of the story that you see with math see what it looks like for English which is the next line so this is the next slide what do we observe what we observe here any observations by staff or parents are any other educational Partners about what they're observing here I can share go ahead and tell the amount of students that are on grade level or above grade level increased as well as a student who are one below grade level but working their way up towards being angry and at the same time the students that are below grade level is decreasing so overall we're moving in the right direction or seeing a lot of growth from our first assessment to our second one thank you very much Miss Canela just like with the mask we're seeing a reduction in our red and dark red and an increase in our green and dark green and so that's really really exciting again it just means it our students that were closed on grade level are moving up and our students that were far below grade level are also moving out we actually got word from the main office to main Alliance home office that villara really stood out both in terms of their growth and proficiency both for a reading and for math so that's what we've been looking out over the last couple of days at our day today we've been looking at the students that didn't prove we've been looking at the students who were worried about and we want to see them in more we've been looking at survey data the survey data completed by families a student of the survey data completed by students the survey data completed by staff as we try to make adjustment take me to your adjustments to make this as a successful a year as we can make it so that's kind of where we're at we're at the very beginning of semester to all the grades have been like none of the grades from SEC from first semester extending the second semester so students are able to start a whole new a whole new project a whole new Leaf turnover whole new Leaf as it were in regards to their grades mom and apple right at the beginning of second semester I'm happy to answer any questions about that as well but that's where we're at and we're excited to get started any questions from any of the SSA cmap members about any of the data or anything that's going on presently or coming up soon alright well then I will just add one more thing before we close this out January is kind of a short month and in February the things that are starting out that family should be aware of them are the interim assessment so I know sometimes it feels like there's too many assessments but we did the i-Ready Assessments in November and we are starting the interim assessment which were based off of the state test we are starting two weeks into February so all right around Valentine's Day will be starting those assessments both for reading and Math and Science and 8th grade but that's pretty much all that's going on right now as always do as the Middle School principal I just want to remind all the Paris the more students practice things the more they improve if we want our students to get on grade level for reading or in math a lot of that has to do with how much they're practicing so the more we can encourage them to read it home the better i a all of our Middle School families and students if they want to practice math at home they can do i-Ready which allows them to work on their level and it allows the parents to see right away did they or didn't they pass the test so that must be all I'm always going to talk about practice wait to see you tomorrow and if there's any questions we can go over those otherwise we can move on to the next item on the agenda thank you all thank you very much mr. cost down and so I know that mister Ties on the agenda I'm not sure if he was able to jump in they do have high school professional development today but just some quick updates are sports teams are continuing to thrive we just won another basketball game or basketball teams are either tie for first place or insult possession a place that's super exciting for our Sports programs and we're continuing to grow and we're continuing to build on our academic programs are really excited about the high school and really just trying to support as much as you can this is a short meeting as I shared next month as ssac members be ready have your coffee whatever you need next month meeting is going to longer one time because we will be doing our El Cap progress update as well as providing some data updates on budget at cetera so that's the only update for El Cap today just be prepared for a longer meeting I talked about this back in just this is going to be shorter than any questions message they see the main thing is that El Cap meeting next month is an important one and I want to make sure we're all they are ready to be engaged so now pass it to see must have been enough for any public comments and then we'll we'll end it with Ms Mart with the adjournment of the meaning of wanted to open it up and see if that's open it up for any public comments close give me city of God so this is the type of public comments I know that we have some participants today for the Publix for some parents are there thank you mr. carlston for actually pushing my son to want to be a better reader he was so excited cuz you let him borrow or you recommended a book for him so over the break we did travel to Mexico and he was just so excited he was taking out the book everywhere in the airport so that made me as a parent like wow like I always have to push him to wondering so my son Abel was just very excited to read the book so thank you mr. Carlson and thank all the stuff that you know are always pushing our students harder hey I love that comment thank you very much for my chair price in Asmara and then you call Stanford continuing Pusher literacy we have another two minutes if you have was this place used to scan for that comment I don't see any other comment or question so about the meeting back to maturity and then for me some of that to class everyday thanks I'll pass it now and I'm pretty sure someone shared this already but I was also High School update we got our first Alliance MIT student into Stanford they'll be attending Stanford in the fall of 2023 to get these historic acceptances for such a small new school she need to get kids into UCLA Berkeley Hawaii cow SC etcetera is a really big feeling and I want to make sure we say thank you to all of the teachers all the administrators that support with this stuff is going to Stanford this fall and then there's the more you're more than welcome to adjourn the meeting whenever you're prepared whenever you're ready and I know you're always ready the meeting is adjourned and time is 4:03 p.m. thank you all have a good day everyone so good to see you all thank you all so much again preciate you all I thought for dinner
