good evening Griffin's thank you so much for joining us for our back to school night obviously today looks a little bit different than typical years but we are going to make sure that you get all the information you need and get a little taste of what your students experience is in our 2122 school year I am Mr mikolaenko the bear Triple Alliance Marine High School and I first just want to start out by saying how great it has been all of the students back on campus it has been such a long time just being in classroom seeing kids learn Hands-On as opposed to being on zoo has been such a refreshing sight and so I hope you all really appreciate having are schools open again because I know I have so today we have a couple things that we want to make sure we can so here is our agenda we're going to talk through our priorities for the school year talk to you a couple of our new initiatives that we're rolling out and then at the end of the night to learn a little bit more about individuals classes from all of your teachers first stop I just want to mention our priorities as an entire network so these are four priority number one making sure health and safety is first as we return back fully on site number two is around making sure that all of our students feel comfortable and safe on campus both from a mental health and emotional stamp 3 is making sure that we are providing the best academic education that we possibly can and 4 is our continued commitment to ensuring that we are an anti-racist institution and supporting all of us in being anti-racist visuals so let's start with Priority One health and safety these are all our precautions that we are taking on campus one I want to highlight is we are now having weekly testing for all staff and students on so every Tuesday morning every staff member and every student will be taking a covid test follow up on this your child is having any symptoms or has been in contact with anyone who has tested positive need to have your child stay home and contact us immediately so we can follow the proper protocol if there is a confirmed case on our site we will contact every single close contact to that case and if that individual is fully vaccinated they do not have it said close contact is fully vaccinated I have to return the site are they can return to site sorry if a close contact is not fully vaccinated they do need to corn and then obviously the individual that tested positive will also and all of those cases would have to have a covid test before work if you have any questions please put them in the chat and we will respond they are otherwise you can wait till the end now on to some really exciting things I wanted to mention some of the new programs at MIT this year we had an new AP courses this year AP art and AP Physics that brings up our AP courses to 10 so all of our Griffins have the opportunity of taking AP courses which means they can get credit for college courses even before they step onto a college campus we also added two additional stem Robotics and environmental science so this is really going towards our push to become a steam school so science technology engineering arts and math can you do build out our electricity program in order to support our students and all of those courses and knowing that the transition in and out of virtual learning has been really hard for we created but we're calling Power Hour that Mr chai's going to talk a little bit more about there and then speaking to the wellness and belonging priority we also a wellness center that is led by our counselor so with that we have our other admin that are going to speak about some other programs and so I'm going to pass it off to them welcome to this year's back-to-school night my name is Miss Medrano and the chancellor the Marine high school and I will introduce our team to so our taxi Department team this year is mr. He will be the twelfth grade counselor use for underarm 11th grade counselor immature morons and each one of us can be reached via e-mail or at our office numbers are students have each been asked to add grade level counselor Google Classroom because. Google Classroom your students will get the opportunity to get access to counselor specific information for your students such as how to sign up for community college class or your sis great college for a happening and don't Flyers are shared with your child via the grade-level Google classrooms information regarding Como Tomar clases I never sister Stan you Marcus La manana aluminum maestro what's the name you can call him in office directly to schedule an or email you're a great lover concert schedule an appointment walk-ins are accepted but please keep in mind there may be a wait time if a counselor is meeting with with a parent request to meet with a counselor studentski requested the other Google Classroom is why it's so important for students to be plugged into their student Google classroom for the grade level with their grade level specifically interested it needs to meet with their counselor please make sure that they go to the Google Classroom full of his form with the short form it just let them know hear about the confidentiality peace and we are more than happy to meet your student about anything definitely related or social emotion and and we let them know that there is confidentiality with that long beach wallpaper Google Cinema 6 in English in Espanol the kimono and finally as we please make sure that you are checking the transfer messages from counselors right there you'll have information received from us and parents where we can respond to right there Alyssa Abby find iMessage yang this is my first year at MIT I've been with the alliance for the past nine years so I'm really excited by my pants game that I will be serving a lion's as one of the high school assistant principal sure I am I in a pound AP biology and chemistry I am currently teaching environmental science and overseen assignments Department working closely with our science teachers I will also be overseeing the academic House of our high school so therefore be on the lookout that we will be sending home by weekly reports a very soon so that you can see your child's academic progress if there's any concern any questions and you want to reach out if you want to say hi stop by email at what y a n g i l l i n s. Org working with every single one of you add reminder evening Marine Scholars and families welcome and I want to take a moment to introduce myself my name is Mister chili and I've been with the Lions and mighty for three years however I've been with a lion when they're only a few you schools show me first open in this is actually my 13 year with Alliance amazing journey and honor to work with students and families and I've had the privilege of seeing many of them start at 9th grade graduate high school attended attended and graduated an assistant principal overseen Humanities at marine and it's important to me that we make sure all of our students are accessible successful they can be on their journey to high school and I also wanted to talk about some of our programs that are new terrain this year better designed to make sure that kids are as successful as they can be the first one is already testing which is a sense of how kids are performing in both reading and were able to use this chest to monitor growth and see how kids are doing in relation to their grade level performance benchmarks we actually just finished our August diagnostic tests and we'll be sharing email to student Alliance email account if parents are Gardens emails are in PowerSchool they won't they won't receive those results as well along with i-Ready results current great performance will be sent to spy bi-weekly report in that email as well please email later this week or early next week and if you do not receive that email to update your contact information our next i-Ready 8 are going to be a mid-year assessment in December to monitor growth as well as our end-of-year assessment in June as we close at the school year the other opportunity I wanted to share our our classes which take place at the end of the day Monday Tuesday and Wednesday and you'll see them listed in PowerSchool for your for your student has. 8 9 and 10 these classes are programmed using the i-Ready data analyst current rate to fast individually and place them with the appropriate support whether that be math English another content content class or study hall or also looking to add enrichment opportunities or GPA All Stars kids that are doing well and in wanting to give some of those opportunities as well anyways I got again my name is Mister try and please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions welcome hello again miss my friend goes back I just wanted to share some additional information before you get a chance to meet all of your students teachers so these are just a couple of remind I want to make all the parents aware that we've already spoken to the students about the first one the students have been doing such a great job with is just keeping their mouths on today while on campus so I have to be warned from when they arrived on campus to when they leave and they have to be over the mouth and the nose throat the kids have been doing such a great job with that the second reminder is around uniforms because of student student input we did want to add the color black for the bottoms do to deserve how to wear black or khaki colored bottom but they are not allowed to wear jeans sweats or leggings so black or khaki bottoms and then for the tops it's the same as always all students have Lions below and then a lot of students to wear a sweatshirt so those sweatshirts have to either be all black or Alliance and you saw that we are selling a crew neck sweater those are sale for $25 if you would like to buy one for your student or even for yourself those would be acceptable to wear any day of the week and then as always no hood Pastor in terms of headphones and phone we are in no bones wall during school hours so from 8:25 to 3:45 phones are not allowed to be used so if you need to communicate with your with your child please call the main off and we will make sure that that communication goes through to your to your student because we because of safety and academics we don't want phones be used during the school day in terms of headphones headphones are old use when teachers give explicit directions that they are allowed otherwise they should not be used on campus the only other time they can use them as it during break if they're using them with their computer in the MPR Leslie is just a reminder for kids just to stay to the right in the hallways and go directly to class during transition this announcement is for parents specifically in terms of drop-off and pick-up to make things go really smoothly in the morning and afternoon and to make sure that everyone is safe one student step off campus they cannot come back on campus so make sure that if if you need to remain on campus for after school you cannot leave campus and we will have supervision until 4 after that we're going to ask you to wait outside campus and then when you are picking up or dropping off please pull all the way forward we can get traffic moving as quickly as possible and even support more on traffic if you are picking up a middle school and a high school student please come after 3:45 so you can collect both of those students at the same time and then the most important thing for pickup and drop-off is not stopping on Allegheny Street you was our valet service to pick up students we cannot have cars stopping in the middle of Allegany it holds up traffic and it's not safe for for kids and 9 we love when parents participate in school so we have weekly parents seminars we had our first one yesterday and we will have them every Wednesday at 9 a.m. and he's will be virtual so you can participate from wherever you are and then before we close I just want to recap some of the great things that are happening at Reed High School this year we talked about the weekly bi-weekly grade reports that you should be eating if you did not receive the email tonight that means we don't have the right email on file and please communicate that with our main office so we can update that and we can get you a report sent directly to your email we have a ton of other things happening on campus and we're really excited for college courses to start happening on campus as well be on the lookout for that communication are we talked about the school swag yourself Marine High School sweater and then be on the lookout of all of our school then they will be all virtual for at least the first semester but we we definitely want to make sure that we get as much participation as possible so next up we have individual class videos with each of your teachers talking a little bit about their class and the grading policy the Simons and some of the content that would be covered so please reference the email that you received tonight and the schedule to click through the videos of each of your individual teachers this was much easier on all of you hopefully so that you only get presented with the classes that your child has your in all the teacher emails are also provides on that stain if you have additional questions you can reach out to them independent I'm going to ask all seeing your parents please stay on you have a couple more presentation to show you all the support events that are going to be happening for your skin and I before I let you go I just want to give some additional information about our main office in order to best serve our kids and our our family we have to time frames that the main office will be open so from 9 to 12 and 12:30 to 3:30 or main office will be open for any questions or paperwork you can visit us during those times you can also call or email them at any time and this information is also on the letter that we emailed to you as well so when that thank you so much for joining us today please go back in that email and watch each of your teachers videos to learn a little bit more about what's going to happen this year and each one of your classes in your parents please stay on and reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns you can also throw them in the chat will stay on the to answer any questions as well otherwise have a great rest of your night and reach out if you have any questions thanks Griffin the folks who are a little confused on where to go this is the email but you should have received this afternoon that has all the really helpful information so the first half of it or just important links and information about our school you can purchase the the sweater there there's also tutorials on how to use power power school and parent square and that our main office hours and modes of communication the next part is actually what you'll Rue Steve every other week in an email so it has all of your students grades as well as your teeth the teachers emails and then the i-Ready results that Mr chide talked about so this is just an example of what the email should look like and what you'll continue to receive throughout the year and then this is just the last part which includes the grade point average as well as communication for for each of our counselor so once again on 9th through 11th grade parents and students go ahead and click through each one of those back to school night videos which each of you teachers have made it to talk a little bit about their class and that we just have a couple more presentations for our seniors so again please put any any questions in the chat otherwise we're going to we're going to have a couple more presentation just for a senior good afternoon Griffin's and family my name is mr. Lara and I'm the college counselor for the graduating class of 20 show me to go seniors I'm very excited and honored to be able to share this culminating experience with our alliance and mighty found in class and help them in their transition most high school this year will focus heavily online colleges and making sure that we finish her High School experience on the right foot of academically and emotion at this moment our seniors parents if you didn't know our seniors are on their way towards analyzing and interpreting their transcripts grade so we can dive and see that the application season come October any and all resources applicable to seniors we found in my Google classroom seniors if you haven't added it please do so already parents if you are unaware my Google Classroom please talk to your senior and they should know the steps on how to add it and then also you will also be able to find their senior toolkit also within their Google Drive seniors if you have an attitude your tool kit please make sure that it's that you do so as soon as possible please reach out and support our students on his last year of high school and can be found in my office known as The College Center in h114 on the high school side of our complex as well parents feel free to send me an email earlier I've Ellie alliance.org if you have any questions or any concerns or want to know more about what it is that we're working on as a year progresses as well as my email I also have office hours please feel free to reach out to her Ops Team at the front office and book a time to meet with me again for similar any questions or concerns that come up for the senior year I'm more than happy to help out at any time that I can I'm grateful to have this experience with our seniors and I'm ready help them succeed and to transition into college I hope that everybody's having a great afternoon welcome to back to school night and welcome to the school year of 2021 and 2022 hello France on mr.
